Thoughts
I joined HMS Alacrity just after she returned from the Falklands war and was fortunate enough to serve with Eric for about 15 months. During that time we formed a good team successfully leading the WE Department during lengthy operational periods at sea including returning to the South Atlantic. He was always calm, courteous and cheerful even when the going got tough - a true gentleman - with a mischievous sense of humour! We became good friends, and It was a delight to meet up again, by accident, after we had both left the Navy. Mary and I are so sad that his time on this earth has been cut short, and our thoughts are very much with you, Christine, and the family. Eric was one of the best.

So grateful for having Eric & Chris as our neighbours and memories that we have shared. Eric has been a fountain of information and so may interesting stories. One of our fondest memories has been watching the stars with you through your brilliant telescope which you wheeled out in your wheelbarrow. Forever in our thoughts Katrin, Tobi, Oli, Beth & Matthew

We have found it difficult to put into words our thoughts and memories of Eric. He is a very dear friend. In the time we have known Eric, Chris and the girls we have had so much fun, empathy and friendship. We may be many miles away here in Australia but Eric, Chris and the girls are always in our thoughts and memories. It is a special friendship when you can just pick up the phone and feel no time has passed and that you are just around the corner. We hope Eric knew how much his friendship meant to us. We will miss him.
